Best LCD TVs or Plasma TVs?
Like many other people, you may be having trouble deciding between a plasma and lcd television. Luckily, we’ve put together this great guide to help you in your decision! Take a look at the following criteria and make your decision.
Size: Vendors typically carry both plasma and lcd televisions for very large screen sizes. If you’re thinking about getting a really big (40″-50″ or more) television for your living room, both lcd or plasma will be fine.
Cost: LCD has become more popular in recent years, so more and more vendors are offering lcd televisions instead of other technologies. This has resulted in very competitive pricing between the different brands.
Weight: LCD wins again here, as their tv’s are typically quite a bit lighter than the plasma equivalents. For a large tv, the different in weight could be more than 30lbs. Most people don’t move their televisions often though, so this may not be an important factor for you.
Image Quality: This is an area that plasma tv’s still win out, despite increased popularity from lcd tvs. The image and contrast ratio on a plasma tv is difficult to match, and historically plasma tvs enjoyed a huge lead in image quality over their lcd rivals. In the last year, LCD televisions have become very competitive though, and the difference is minimal.
Energy Efficiency: LCD tvs, on average, use less energy than their plasma counterparts.
